What are the requirements to be eligible for CareerGig Benefits?

CareerGig is proud to be able to offer a wide selection of benefits to our freelance subscribers, and even more proud to be able to offer contributions to premiums that are taken out of our transaction fees.
The following outlines basic eligibility requirements, but please note that there are many other factors that go into eligibility for insurance and other financial products. Solely meeting these requirements does not guarantee coverage.
Eligibility requirements:
All of our benefits require that a freelancer be registered as a subscriber to CareerGig. Subscriptions are free for life, and available through our Sign up pages.
A Freelance Subscriber must be a member for at least 30 days in order to qualify for any type of CareerGig Benefits, though we can get started with an initial application after 15 days of subscription for Tier 1 benefits.
Our 3-Tier System and hours per month worked requirements:
CareerGig Benefits are tiered based on the
PLEASE NOTE: If you are a 1099 contractor that has been brought to CareerGig by a Company subscriber, you may qualify for an expedited enrollment in all tiers of benefits. The company that hires you will let you know if this applies to you, as there are many dependencies.
Tier 1 requirements
These benefits are available to any active CareerGig freelance subscriber that has been subscribed for 30 days or more.
These products include:
• Term Life Insurance ($150k to $1mm)
• Pet Insurance
• Pre-Paid Legal
• General Liability

Tier 2 requirements
For these benefits, a freelancer must be active for at least 10 hours during the course of a month on average. This is averaged based on the last 3 months on a rolling basis.
These products include:
• Accident Insurance
• Hospital Insurance

Tier 3 requirements
Several of our benefits products have requirements that a minimum amount of hours is worked per week. These are based on Federal, State, and Carrier requirements, and are subject to change.
Currently, a minimum of 80 hours per month on average worked through gigs and tasks on the CareerGig platform enables a freelancer to be eligible for these benefits. We calculate this average based on the past 3 months of data available.
Several of these benefits are offered as guaranteed issue, and others have requirements beyond. These include:

• Disability Insurance (Short and Long-Term)
• Critical Illness Insurance

Timing of policy start dates
Policies are available (as long as other eligibility requirements are met) at the earliest on the 1st of the month following a freelancer's first 30 days as a Premium or Professional subscriber.
There may be other additional requirements depending on the type of policy desired.
Income requirements:
Some benefits products have minimum income requirements, such as long-term disability, which we indicate on the sign-up form for a free estimate.
